Football loyalists were hopeful that the home-based Super Eagles will emerge victorious over host country, Ghana for a semi-final place in the West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament regardless of a goalless draw it got in the previous match.
While speaking with newsmen, Bethel Ugonna, who plays for Golden FC of Port Harcourt said it is possible for the eagles to qualify for the semi-final.
Ugonna encouraged Coach Salisu Yusuf to deploy all he has in order to overcome the Ghanaians in their forthcoming match, adding that there is need for an improvement in the frontline. This, according to him, would enable them convert their chances to goals.
“The attack makes mistakes, especially when it comes to scoring goals. It is time for them to sit up at least against Ghana in order to qualify for semi-finals,” he said.
Another coach, Lambert Uba said the CHAN Eagles would get to the semi-finals.
Uba, who tipped the eagles for victory on Monday, when the match is scheduled to hold, said the team needed determination and coordination in achieving the victory over Ghana.
He affirmed that the Eagles have a point to prove by ensuring they defeat the Ghanaians on their own soil.
A football enthusiast, Hassan Isa, who is also a businessman, said the Eagles should maintain the commendable feat earlier achieved by beating Cameroon, as they file out against Ghana.
Isa was hopeful that the Super Eagles, regardless of the list, can do wonders.
Nigeria got a point Thursday from the match it played against Mali in the first group match after defeating Sierra Leone.
The Syli Eagles of Guinea also prevented the Super Eagles from getting a semi-finals ticket on Saturday.
