The UEFA Champions League group stage draw held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Thursday, October 1, 2020, leading to a few surprises.
UEFA champions league holders Bayern Munich were drawn in group A alongside Atletico Madrid, Red Bull Salzburg, and Lokomotiv Moscow. Cristiano Ronaldo would face Lionel Messi for the first time since leaving Real Madrid after Juventus and Barcelona were paired in the same group.
Real Madrid face Serie A’s Inter Milan in Group B while Manchester United would face last season’s UEFA champions league final runner-up, Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
Premier League champions, Liverpool, were drawn in the same group with Ajax and free-scoring Atalanta. Chelsea will also battle against UEFA Europa League winners, Sevilla, in Group E. Manchester City were drawn in Group C alongside Porto, Olympiakos, and Marseille.

The UEFA champions league group stages get underway in the week of October 19, with six rounds of group games running through to mid-December.
