Ogun State’s Ota Magistrates Court on Thursday considered the fate of three men, namely Safiu Akinde, 19, Sile Akinde, 19, and Korede Azeez, 21, for an accusation of breach of public peace.

The defendants, whose residential addresses were undisclosed were tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, submitted that the accused and a few other accomplices on the run were caught in the act in the morning of June 19 at Abebi area of Ota.

Gbesi stated that the accused were found with cutlasses and axes while threatening to cause havoc in the community and thereby disrupting the peace in the process.

Such offence, according to him, breached Section 80(d) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against them.

A bail sum of N300,000 was granted by the Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O.Banwo, to each of the accused persons with each of the two sureties in like sum.

The case will be reopened for hearing on August 2.
