Tag warri

Tag Warri!

Tag Warri is a popular Nigerian card game that is played with a special deck of cards. The game is also known as "Warri" or "Ayo" in some parts of the country.

Here's a brief overview of how to play:

Number of Players: 2-6 players can play Tag Warri.

Deck: The game uses a special deck of 52 cards, with 4 suits: Ope (red), Olo (blue), Owo (green), and Ogun (black). Each suit has 13 cards, with the Ace being the highest card.

Objective: The objective of the game is to capture all your opponent's cards by playing cards in a strategic manner.

How to Play:

  1. Shuffle the deck and deal 7 cards to each player.
  2. The remaining cards are placed face down in a pile on the table.
  3. The top card from the deck is turned over and placed beside the deck. This card determines the trump suit for the game.
  4. The player to the left of the dealer goes first, and then play moves clockwise.
  5. Each player's turn consists of two parts: the "draw" and the "play".
    • Draw: The player draws the top card from the deck or the top card from the discard pile.
    • Play: The player must play a card from their hand that matches the suit of the top card on the discard pile. If they don't have a card of the same suit, they can play any card from their hand.
  6. If a player has only one card left in their hand, they must say "Warri" to alert the other players. If they fail to do so and another player notices that they have only one card left, they can take another turn and capture the entire hand of the offending player.
  7. The game continues until one player has captured all their opponent's cards. That player is the winner.
