The Provost, College of Information and Communication Technology, Kwara State University, Prof. Kazeem Gbolagade, has called on the Federal Government to invest More in ICT.
Gbolagade spoke in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Monday during a press briefing on the forthcoming U6 international consortium conference. The theme of the 5th conference as ”˜Resolving developmental challenges of Africa using multi-disciplinary research.’
The Provost said that Nigeria has not maximised the potential, opportunities and benefits of the ICT. He added that though people might claim that there was high penetration Of the ICT in the country, Nigerian government and Nigerians had not deplored and optimised the ICT opportunities in many sectors.
He, therefore, called on the government, corporate organisations and the private sector to invest more in the ICT, adding that there could not be developed without the full utilisation of the ICT.
According to him, 100 participants across Africa from KWASU, University of Ilorin, University of Calabar, Cape University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa; University of Eldoret, Kenya, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and University of the Gambia as well as other participating tertiary institutions will attend the conference at KWASU from October 29 to November 2.
