The former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, has not stopped making Nigeria proud on the international scene.
On December 1, she was honoured at an all-star event in New York for services to humanity and the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala was honoured alongside Bill & Melinda Gates, philanthropist Mo Ibrahim and former New York Mayor and media mogul, Michael Bloomberg, by two respected international advocacy groups, ONE and RED.
Among those in attendance at the event are: Former US President Bill Clinton and current Vice President Joe Biden.
In a statement signed by the Media Adviser to the former Minister, Paul Nwabuikwu, Dr Okonjo-Iweala thanked ONE and RED for the recognition.
“It is an inspiration to work harder on the issues of social and economic development that have always been my passion,” she said.
“I’m also grateful to my country for the opportunities to serve. I will always be proud to be a Nigerian.”
