Three suspects were arrested by Ogun Police Command for being in possession of two human skulls.

The suspects, Saibu Popoola, Aliu Ajiroba and Jimoh Ijiola, were arrested on Thursday by a team of policemen attached to the Aiyetoro Divison. The police confirmed that two of the suspects, Popoola and Ajiroba were spotted by them on a Bajaj motorcycle with a bag in their possession on Idagba-Olodo Road.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, asserted that during the search carried out on the duo, the human skulls were found in the bag.

Oyeyemi said the suspects were detained at Ayetoro Police Station, where, according to their confessions, said they collected the skulls from one Jimoh Ijiola, who resides in the neighbourhood of Erinpa.

This however effected the arrest of the other suspect by the police team led by the Divisional Police Officer, Ayetoro Division, Makinde Kayode.

Oyeyemi further said: “In his own statement, Ijiola denied being the person that gave them the skulls, but said that they all got them from neighbouring Republic of Benin and that their intention was to use it for money rituals.”

On the order of the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, where more questioning would be required for detailed information from the suspects.
