The goalkeeper has hailed his former club for their performance despite getting relegated, and has tipped them to return to the elite division soon
Richard Ocheayi has praised Ikorodu United for their strong finish in the just concluded league season despite sinking to the Nigeria National League.
He said the team should be praised for getting some high profile results despite their challenges
“This past season was a season I won’t like to remember. Even though we did well towards the end of the season but our poor start affected any possibility of retaining premier league status,” Ocheayi told Goal.
“We should however we proud of performances like the win over Heartland, Kano Pillars and Enyimba who are past league winners.
“I know that it won’t be easy in the lower league but I am certain that the club would get the right set of players with which to achieve their target of a return to the premier league at the end of next season.”
Ikorodu United placed a distant 19th on the log with 32 points from 36 matches and were relegated alongside Giwa FC, Heartland and Warri Wolves.
