National Universities Commission (NUC) has directed the Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities to conclude arrangements for reopening.

According to NUC, the federal government has given its approval for the resumption of schools.

NUC, in a memo signed by a Director in its Executive Secretary’s office, Chris Maiyaki, directed Vice Chancellors to ensure that resumption plans are in sync with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.

The commission also notified universities of its impending visit for inspection of staff officers, lecture theatres, laboratories, libraries, accommodation, healthcare facilities, among others.

The memo added, “Universities must under no circumstances, violate the full cycle of the semester system, consistent with the NUC approved Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS).”
