Recently, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), FCT Command said it would embark on anti-narcotics campaign towards curbing drug trafficking in the area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Peter Adegbe, revealed in Abuja that the agency would enlighten the people to expose drug traffickers in their midst.
Adegbe said the FCT command has beefed up surveillance in Abaji, Gwagwalada, Bwari and Abuja Municipal Area Councils to take on drug traffickers.
“The FCT command will not allow these agents of wares of destruction to infiltrate the territory”.
“To this effect, the Command’s stop and search strategy has been fortified with many attendant successes”.
“We have also increased our sensitization of the general public, especially the youths”.
The PRO expressed that the command had sharpened its campaigns on schools, motor parks, entertainment joints, hotels, to educate the public on the dangers of illicit drugs.
“We are also collaborating with relevant non-governmental organisations and other security agencies”.
Adegbe appealed to all Nigerians to support the Agency’s efforts at cutting the spate of insecurity.
He advised the youths to embrace dignity and hard work, saying that these were more rewarding than indulging in criminality.
