The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, visited the three offices of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Saturday, October 17, and freed three detainees.

Governor Obiano granted unconditional bail to the detainees who were illegally held by SARS officials when he visited their offices in Ekwulobia, Neni and Awkuzu.

Governor Obiano said, “The Commissioner of Police in the state has released everyone detained illegally, and everyone remanded by the order of the court, will remain there until their cases are determined.”

The governor also announced that on Monday, he will inaugurate a panel that will entertain public petitions on the activities of SARS in the state. According to him, the panel will be headed by a retired Chief Judge.
