President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a probe into the killing of Isiaka Jimoh in the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State during the recent protests against the brutality and harassment of Nigerians by men of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

Recall that Newsbreakers reported that Isiaka Jimoh died during a protest in Ogbomoso from a stray bullet allegedly fired by police officers to disperse the protesters.

The President, in a two-minute broadcast uploaded on his verified Twitter handle, expressed his regret over the loss of life of the deceased and promised that the circumstances of his death would be thoroughly investigated.

The President, however, maintained that the few bad eggs from the police force should not be allowed to tarnish the image and reputation of the force.

President Buhari said, “We deeply regret the loss of life of the young man in Oyo State during the recent demonstrations. I have directed that the circumstances of his death should be thoroughly investigated. Meanwhile, it is important to recognize that the vast majority of men and women of the police force are hardworking and diligent in performing their duties. The few bad eggs should not be allowed to tarnish the image and reputation of the force.”
