The Governor of Edo State and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Godwin Obaseki, has won the Edo State gubernatorial election.

The Governor ensured he would remain in office for a second term after defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, along with twelve other political parties in the state.

Godwin Obaseki had 307,955 votes while Ize-Iyamu had 223,619

The election took place on Saturday, September 20, and was widely regarded as free and fair despite complaints of slow card readers from some quarters.
