Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun has called on the Nigerian Army to provide adequate security of the oil rich Tongeji Island between the state and the Republic of Benin.
Amosun said the call became imperative so as to ensure that the Island would not be lost like the Bakassi Peninsula, which was seeded to the Republic of Cameroon.
The governor made the call in a meeting with the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Henry Edet, at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Amosun who expressed the determination of his government to continue supporting security agencies across the country, gave kudos to the agencies for the peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
