Akwa ibom pay new minimum wage

According to recent reports, the Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the payment of the new minimum wage of N30,000 to its workers.

In October 2020, the Federal Government of Nigeria increased the national minimum wage from N18,000 to N30,000, and subsequently, many states, including Akwa Ibom, have been implementing the new wage.

In a statement issued by the Akwa Ibom State Government, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, announced that the state government has approved the payment of the new minimum wage to its workers, effective from January 2022.

The statement read: "The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the payment of the new minimum wage of N30,000 to its workers, effective from January 2022. This is in line with the federal government's directive and the state's commitment to the welfare of its workers."

The payment of the new minimum wage is expected to benefit over 100,000 workers in the state, including civil servants, teachers, and other categories of workers.

It's worth noting that the payment of the new minimum wage is a significant development for workers in Akwa Ibom State, as it will help to improve their standard of living and alleviate poverty.
