According to an online tracker on the website of the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, 474 students and five staff members have tested positive for Covid-19 as of September 28.
A university spokesman revealed in a statement that the institution would provide support for the victims as well as check on them to ensure that they are following Government guidelines.
The spokesperson said, “We recognize how difficult it is for students who are new to Sheffield and need to self-isolate because of Covid-19 cases. To make sure we are supporting students in the best way possible, we will contact all students who are self-isolating to check on their welfare and offer practical and emotional support.”
The news comes after Northumbria University recorded a major outbreak with 770 students testing positive for Coronavirus but are self-isolating for 14 days in line with Government guidance.
Sheffield University has around 8,000 staff members and usually hosts around 29,000 students on its campus every academic year.
